Repainting my White Scars

Hello, hello. I have been very busy with attending another institute that will some day give me a piece of paper to gloat about.  For now I wish to tell you about my recent development with my 30k army.  The 30k army I collect is the White Scars, fierce and honorable, FOR THE KHAN!

Today I have started to paint my white scars with a new technique using oil paints and weathering powder.  I never was good at painting when I first started out, more or less I liked playing more than painting and that lead to rush paint jobs.  This time around I plan to take my time and try and get a good looking army on the table then just one to push around.

So what my first lot of rushed scars looked like was this:

This was painted using this process:

1. Undercoat grey
2. Spray white with Scars white
3. Wash with nuln oil
4. Paint the large areas white again
5. Wash with 50/50 nuln oil/ agrax earthshade
6. then detail.

Now I have changed up and went through a new process and it goes something like this.
(Picture Heavy)

Undercoat Grey

Airbrush Vallejo Sky Grey 80/20 Vallejo White

Details and Battle damage then gloss and oils

Weathering Powders

Base and seal

And that's the finished product this time round took more time but was a blast to paint.  Head over to A Galaxy In Flames this is where my friends taught me the wonders of oil washes.

Anyway any comments are much appreciated thanks for your time.  Next time I'll spin you a tale on Astrid again where she has more fun with our wonderfully angry cleric.

Astrid Part I

Ah, so you're back again. What is it? Did you come to find out more on the ingredients I use.  Or did you want to listen to a tale? A tale of piracy, love, failure, death and a change of heart. This tale begins with a charming but innocent marid genie called Astrid, who was travelling the vast open sea of the Skulls and Shackles region.

One night an Aasimar Cleric was keeping watch on deck on a boat in the middle of nowhere so Astrid went to investigate. Being the thoughtful type she decided to pay the cleric a visit and try to cheer her up on what looked to be a boring post. She started by introducing herself and had a delightful conversation with the Aasimar and thought wouldnt it be fun to play a game, but it was only to be between the two of them. The aasimar cleric not knowing how to play decided to bring friends, but Astrid being the shy person that she was hid her presence to those around except for the aasimar. This led to some mistrust from the barbarian which proceeded to slap the cleric for waking him up. This was one of the many fun times Astrid and her new found friend cleric had.

The next event was at a tower on a coast where Astrid decided to pop in and say hello after her cleric friend just acquired said tower. This game was very memorable game where her cleric friend asked to have a competition on who could kill the most people. Being a powerful being she that was, thought this will let her see her new friend's true power and so she accepted. Suddenly the cleric tells her to stop because when she said people it wasn't including her friends. So being the nice genie that she was, decided to bring the cleric's friends back to life and there was much rejoicing.

On the other side of the tale is the Cleric who is just down right rude calling Astrid a "so and so" and all that curse language, the uncouth disrespectful person that she is. How dare that cleric be so mean to her new found friend, I mean serious who wouldn't want a genie as a friend, you could just ask for anything.

This concludes this part of the tale of Astrid the friendly and cheerful genie.  Come back another time, I'm tired now.  Next maybe I'll tell you of my other friend Azura the great Imperial water dragon, Ah hasn't he had some adventures and as it happens he has also run into the barbarian I metioned before.  Oh how paths do align, now move on some of us pretend we're old.

Greetings

Greetings, greetings adventurer; you must be tired. sit, sit let us talk about what you have found.  I am the Dice Wizard and I have decided to make myself know to the outer world through tales of Pathfinder, Warhammer 30k Horus Heresy, with many a mixture of concoctions from Fantasy Flight with a little Warlord Games Bolt Action thrown in.  Today marks the first of many tales I wish to share with you.

My Name is Brado and I have been playing role playing games for about 10-15 years now.  I have played Dungeons and Dragons since 2nd edition through to and including Pathfinder.  I have also dabbled in a bit of the Fantasy Flight franchise with the likes of Dark Heresy, Only War, Death Watch and Descent to name a few.  Another favourite of mine is Shadow Run from Catalyst Games but I don't get to play that system as much anymore.

Then there are the hobby aspects I hold including Warhammer 40k and 30k, with now a new chapter with Bolt Action from Warlord Games.

In Warhammer 40k I collect the sorcerers know as the Thousand Sons, since I'm a wizard too.  They have always appealed to me back in 3rd edition 40k and since the release of 7th edition they have now come into their own with a special phase that is greatly tailored to them.

In Warhammer 30k I bring forth the speed and ferocity of the White Scars.  They were always a legion that I wanted to paint and collect due to the ability to move around the battlefield with great speed and skill. They were one of the legions that fought to have "Storm Seers"(librarians) including into legion ranks due to their great power of reading and manipulating the warp, yes magic type stuff again.  Keepy from A Galaxy In Flames first got me into playing 30k with a proxy model game where I versed his Dark Mechanicum against my "White Scars" at the time.

Onto Bolt Action which is a WWII based game with a random activation based style game play.  It is a new system that I have started to love after my first game against a friend over at A Galaxy In Flames - Spraggy.  Soon I'll have a game against Ty from The Traitor's Hand who collects as well locally.  I have started a Waffen SS German army since I have always liked the German guns and armour.

Now onto why I am know as a Dice Wizard, it is mainly from my uncanny way of rolling the number I need at the right time "most" of the time.  I do have my occasional bad days like everyone else out there but as most of my friends will agree, that is sometimes a rare event.  Wadey from A Galaxy In Flames that I should wear a wizard's hat to the next charity event we held, so I did.  Here is a link to a YouTube video that the guys from The Traitor's Hand have put together.  This was a fund raising event called Like A Sir.

Well that's enough from me,  Now get out before I turn you into a newt.
